Chief Minister Karunanidhi Given Kalaimamani Awards for 2008, 2009 & 2010.
As many as 25 artistes drawn from various disciplines have been chosen for Kalaimamani awards for 2008. Cinematographer Rajeev Menon, comedian Karunaas, writers Elasai Sundaram and Rani Mainthan were presented with the awards for 2008 at a function here this evening.
For 2009, 23 artistes have been chosen for the award. Writers Nanjil Nadan, Rajeshkumar, Actors Chinni Jayanth, Actress Rohini, Saranya, veteran actress Padmini, vocalist Gayathri Girish, television artistes Poovilangu Mohan were presented the awards by Karunanidhi for the year 2009.
For 2010, 26 artistes will get Kalaimamani awards. vocalists T V Gopalakrishnan and Sasikiran, flautist Tiruvarur Swaminathan, Singer Kalyani Menon, Arya, Anushka,Tamanna were presented the awards.
The Chief Minister also presented the ''M S Subbulakshmi Award'' to Music Mestro Illayaraja, the ''Balasaraswathi Award to Padma Subrahmaniyam, Bharati Award to writer Jayakanthan, Lifetime Achievement Award to Actress Saroja Devi and to Y G Mahendra respectively.
